Experience exciting depictions of WW2 events created by radio-controlled models on the water at Walpole Park Boating Lake – with explosions!
Portsmouth Model Boat Display Team (an Affiliate Club of the National Museum of the Royal Navy) will entertain and educate with their displays, including a reenactment of the Atlantic Convoys and DDay Landings during WW2.
Get ready for some model bangs and flashes as part of the display (these will be announced in advance so that spectators can be prepared) and enjoy a commentary on the water events.
Various models will be running on the water throughout the day, accompanied by some themed music. There will be a static display of large models at the lakeside too and “have a go” model boats for younger guests to enjoy as well. Members will be on hand all day to talk to the public about the models on display and the hobby of model-making.
For the main ‘model battle’ on water, please arrive before 1400.

Access
Sloped grass banks (with pathways) lead down to the water. Some seating around the Lake but feel free to bring a fold-up chair or stool for your comfort. This will be a great family event but please take extra care of your children around the water.
Additional Information
There is a large car park just beside the Lake (charges are paid via online app or telephone). Refreshments are available at the Lakeside Cafe and various places on the High Street.
