Feeding the Navy – Royal Clarence Victualing Yard (Event from 2023)

Guided Walk

The Pump House Cafe, Cooperage Green, Weevil Lane, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 1AX

Learn about rioting drovers, press gangs, and nightmarish pest control on this guided walk of the Royal Clarence Yard…

Hear about how this victualling yard developed over time from the mid-1700s, with a focus on the supply of food and drink to the Royal Navy (it was once referred to as ‘the larder of the Navy’) with associated inventions and innovations. Enjoy stories and anecdotes about the people who lived and worked within the yard.

Also look at the ways in which the area is used now, including the locations of artists’ studios available to visit after the walk.
