Guided Walk
51 Clayhall Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2BB
Learn about how funerals were conducted in the past (dead man’s lane or mile) and the great comparisons to today, and view
photos displayed in the Cemetery Mortuary Chapel, plus information that visitors can take away with them.
Then be guided on an informative walk through the Cemetery where the many stories connected to the Listed Monuments and Memorials (large and small) will be told.
Gosport and ‘Turk Town’, why has our old town got this name? Could the answer lie here within a small Turkish Cemetery?
The Cemetery is a site of Special Scientific Interest full of wonderful trees and other flora and, when visits are made in September, our very special ‘Autumn’s Lady’s Tresses’ a beautiful, tiny orchid will be seen in abundance.
A time to reflect and thank the many hundreds who are buried in War Graves.
