The Memorial Gardens, Haslar Hospital, Haslar Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2FA
Discover the secrets of the Memorial Garden at Royal Haslar and find out about the horticultural therapy work being carried out by Shore Leave Haslar, because gardening is good for you.
The Memorial Garden was part of the burial grounds for the Naval Hospital, but it was closed to burials on the opening of Clayhall Cemetery. Although some gravestones remain, it has become a place for planting memorial trees. The working area is now the focus for horticultural therapy for veterans.
Visitors can see the work being done by Shore Leave Haslar, which also encompasses arts and crafts alongside gardening. There will be refreshments with home made cake, a craft shop and plants and vegetables for sale.
Duration approx 120 minutes.
