Come and join us at Gosport Museum and Art Gallery at 1800 for our Annual General Meeting where you find out about what we do, why we are celebrating 30 years and the 2024 theme.
This year we have a European theme around heritage routes, networks and connections looking at how people and ideas have come together. So anyone with ideas of a walk or talk or event around transport routes, communication networks, trade unions and social clubs should come along, talk to the team and find out how to get involved.
We are blessed with history on buses in Gosport, motorcycle manufacture, hovercraft history, railway history, forts and towers… There are many stories here just waiting to be told, so which do you know? We’d love to hear!
If you or your organisation has ideas around either this theme, or heritage ideas generally, come along to the AGM to talk to us. We can help you get you speakers, venues, equipment, promotional materials. We offer free public liability insurance and can help you with whatever is needed to deliver your event.
Terry Rhodes, Chair of Gosport Heritage Open Days says:
“This theme is an opportunity to discover what Gosport can learn from our ancient routes, business establishments, social clubs, post houses, towers and fortifications today. It’s a chance to explore how Gosport’s heritage is connected to a wide variety of influences. But we need enthusiastic people to get involved!”
Terry continued:
“In 2023 we had over 24,000 visitors enjoying our 69 events. If you haven’t before, do make this the year you reach out and join in, either by talking to us about a possible event, becoming a volunteer to help behind the scenes or meet the public. This is your chance to make the most of this incredible festival community network.”
“Whatever your skills or interests, we will find a role for you within our friendly Team. We’d be especially pleased to hear from people who could volunteer some time to assist with admin, volunteer co-ordination, finance and social media,”
