Activity
The Alverbank Country House Hotel,, Stokes Bay Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2QT
At this drop-in workshop, participants will be able to dream up their own vision for change as they stitch their message about the world they wish to live in – onto a fabric dream cloud!
This Victorian Country House Hotel is nestled in Stanley Gardens with stunning sea views of Stokes Bay Beach and across to the Isle of Wight. It is a perfect venue to hold this ‘Dare to Dream’ craftivism workshop. All materials will be provided free of any charge.
Once completed, the clouds will then be hung from tree branches in the grounds for all to see, inspiring effect on others who pass by. Photographs of the cloud tree will be shared online to reach an even larger audience.
By creating something small and beautiful to hang in a public place, you can provoke thought and create curiosity without being confrontational. Your craftivism creation can help people become solution-seekers rather than problem-worriers, quietly encourage passers-by and online-viewers (by posting a picture on social media) to #DareToDream.
This workshop is aimed at adults and older children who have the ability and patience to spend up to an hour crafting with needles and thread. An alternative activity of writing/drawing onto fabric/card dream clouds with fabric pens/markers, will also be available for younger children who may only wish to spend 5-15 minutes.
