Lee Hub, 12-16 High Street, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, PO13 9BZ
An illustrated talk examining the work of the Bamforth company, whose cards were exported and enjoyed worldwide
You will hear about the Bamforth company’s artists over 150 years and their confrontation with the censors in the 1950s.
Your speaker, Martin Marks, advises that there is adult humour on the ‘saucy’ cards displayed but that it was enjoyed by the ladies at a Royal Naval Association meeting recently! Indeed, the content remains with the older, double-entendre humour style which has sadly been overtaken in modern times…
So your blushes should be spared and you’ll be able sit back, relax and enjoy the event with a smile.
