Guided Tour

Gosport & Fareham Inshore Rescue Service (GAFIRS), Lifeboat Lane, Alverstoke, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2TR

Visit the Lifeboat Station at Stokes Bay for a guided tour showing the assets which are used to provide a search-and-rescue in the local area, along with the history of life-saving and how it has developed over five decades.

GAFIRS has grown to become one of the busiest lifeboat stations in the UK. In 2019 they celebrate 50 years of service to the local community. Attending over more than 2,000 incidents and saving more than 100 lives. The service is managed and delivered entirely by volunteers, making it a real PEOPLE POWER story.

They provide a wide range of services to the community: these include delivering safety presentations to water sports clubs, accident prevention and beach safety events at schools, to promotions at local fairs and fetes, the amazing 999 emergency services day and the highly successful New Years Day Swim, raising funds for various charities under the watchful eye of GAFIRS.
