Meeting Point
Bayside Cabin Meeting Point

Join Historian and Researcher, Stuart Burgess in exploring this internationally important WW2 site: The western end of Stokes Bay was requisitioned by the 79th Armoured Division for training crews to operate the Duplex Drive Tanks that saw their debut on DDay. Stuart has spent the past 7 years investigating the DD tanks and the significance of the Training Wing at Stokes Bay. The leisurely walk will explore most of the site and enable visitors to interpret the landscape as it was in 1944. This informative and entertaining walk will provide a memorable opportunity to learn about this fascinating site: Children (and parents) can try and work out where 1940s images are taken from on handouts given during the tour.
