VISIT GOSPORT HERITAGE OPEN DAYS AT FORTON FEST

  • Post category:Blog

SATURDAY 13 AUGUST

There will be fun, live music, charity and craft stalls for shopping and some funfair rides at this year’s Forton Fest so come and see the Open Days stand and join us! We’ll have some Victorian activities for the kids and an Inventions Quiz for the grown-ups.

We’ll also be handing out copies of our hot off the press new programme which talks about our 60 plus events, all FREE TO EXPLORE.

We’ll be talking about the 20+ new events coming for Gosport residents and visitors to enjoy this year. Especially the 12 family friendly events, designed with children in mind.

These include a chance to see WW2 model ships and military vehicles in action, exploring the Passageways and Alleyways of Gosport High Street with a guide and a quiz or visiting the Submarine Museum to see John Holland’s Incredible Invention. Of course there will still be old favourites which include riding on a traditional Provincial bus and exploring Fort Brockhurst.

If you sign up to receive our Gosport Heritage Open Days news, you’ll be in the draw for 3 great prizes –

a family ticket to the Diving Museum,
a family ticket to the Hovercraft museum and
a NMRN cotton tote goodie bag with:

  • 6 x napkins
  • apron
  • RN cufflinks

  • 3 x HMS Victory pop up cards
  • 3 x sub in tub
  • 3x card models of HMS Alliance

    • At Forton Fest we’ll be delighted to talk about how the self guided Ghosts of Haslar Trail, a walk made by local children for local children (and inquisitive adults) will work. This will involve using your smartphone to follow an experimental pop-up QR code trail, to discover fascinating stories about people associated with the history of Haslar Hospital

On the trail there will be 6 QR code way markers which will reveal short films created by students about characters from history connected to Haslar’s past adventures with the world.

The links will stay live throughout the 10 days of the festival 9-18 September.
