Movie sword master, Bob Anderson, was born in Gosport 100 years ago today. Join us for a talk about his life followed by a swashbuckling adventure that he worked on.
Giants, Villains, Wizards, True Love and lots of sword fighting abound in this much-loved comedy adventure which is great entertainment for all the family. Film rated PG.
The Princess Bride is being screened at Gosport’s Community Cinema in tribute to Bob who was not only an Olympic fencer himself but also coached for Great Britain. His entry into the movie business came in 1953 when he was called to Hollywood to train actors. He was arguably the most legendary of sword-fight trainers and choreographers. He worked on films including The Princess Bride, Pirate of the Caribbean and the Star Wars series, to name just a few.
Bob died in 2012, but his skills live on in films such as this and in the hearts of the many Olympic fencers who he coached to success.
Please arrive by 1845 to be seated for the talk at 1900 and the film starting at 1930.
