Meet at St John the Evangelist Church, Forton Road, PO12 4TQ (Please be advised that this is not a circular tour and will end in the area of The Railway Inn)
Join Lesley Burton, well-known local historian, writer and lecturer on this historic walk. She will take you down Forton Road to Ferrol Road, pointing out the historic buildings on the way and telling you about the people who lived there. For example, hear about Jessie White Mario, daughter of Thomas White, boatyard owner of Gosport. She was a nurse to General Garibaldi’s soldiers in four wars and was hailed as a national hero!
