06. Royal Navy Submarines and Submariners in WW1

IN PERSON

Illustrated Talknew events

Hornet Services Sailing Club, Haslar Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2AQ

A fascinating insight into how Royal Navy submarines and submariners came of age in the cauldron of World War 1 – their first combat experience…

This story is told by Chris Munns, a submariner himself for 20 years experience, and once Director of the Royal Navy Submarine Museum. It avoids technical detail, focusing instead on four submariners whose remarkable exploits were prime examples of the courage and determination that helped establish the ‘can-do’ culture of the submarine service that has been the bedrock of its reputation.

The talk will last for about 40 minutes, with time for questions at the end.
