Guided Walk
Alver Valley East Car Park, Gosport, Hampshire, PO13 8AS
Discover some gems from the past on this off-road guided walk through the natural haven of the Alver Valley, and then on to MOD land…
Near the delightfully named Apple Dumpling Bridge, you’ll come across the Motte and Bailey castle, with views over the Country Park. Look out for the pillbox, and take a walk along Hangman’s Hollow. Then enter MOD land and see the extensive World War One trench systems believed to be a unique practice battlefield.
We think you’ll enjoy hunting out the history on this heritage walk through what is mainly woodland and heathland with gravel tracks; and also love the chance to listen for the woodpeckers, search for butterflies and spot the plentiful birds.
And all in the company of a great Heritage Guide, Ann, who is known to dress up for the occasion!
