Activity
Outside the Diving Museum, No2 Battery, Stokes Bay Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2QU
The Maritime Archaeology Trust (MAT) has extensive experience of engaging, enthusing and educating people about their maritime heritage.
The Solent hides so much history beneath the waves and you can find out about it by visiting the Maritime Discovery Bus outside No2 Battery (in front of Diving Museum). It is packed with resources and activities which will be of interest to visitors of all ages.
Children may especially like the artefact handling, mini sandpit in which to practice excavation, mini airlifts which explain archaeological techniques, and diving kit to try on.
View information about MAT’s current project ‘The Forgotten Wrecks of the First World War’ and chat to the team to learn more.
They’ll be lots of information leaflets to take away with you and MAT’s website has many downloadable resources, including colouring/activity sheets for youngsters to enjoy.
