18. Local D-Day Stories: Pompey Pals

In Person

Illustrated Talk

FirstLight Café Hub, 68 High Street, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 1DR

The Pompey Pals Charity commemorates local area people who have served in our armed forces, or who have lost their lives as a result of enemy action from 1914 to the present day. In this talk, they tell the stories of some of Gosport’s D-Day heroes.

Pompey Pals will honour just a few of the so many people from Gosport who were part of that momentous operation in 1944, D-Day.

These will include Ron Cross, who served with the Royal Engineers. He landed on Juno Beach on H-Hour, making him one of the first soldiers to storm the beaches. Ron was one of the lucky ones to survive the landings to return home and eventually share his memories and feelings of those times.

If you have records or stories of local family members who served at D-Day, come and share with the Pompey Pals.
