Guided Tour

The Hermitage, Middlecroft Lane, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 4EJ

Explore this hidden garden on a special tour given by one of the volunteers who have brought this garden back to life.

You can learn about the myth and legend – stories of monks, ghosts and tunnels are firmly established in local memory. Learn about the families who have owned the land at various times in history and the different roles it has played during its past.

Come and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the two meadows that have been created which bring the countryside into the town. There is also the pond – which is a centre for many wild-life creatures and plants. The paved front edge allows children to watch the activity without damaging the marsh plants.

There are pathways which provide access for wheelchairs and pushchairs but be aware that some planting may spill over onto the path.  Suitable for all ages.
