Enjoy this talk on the history of the Gosport Lines and its defences through the years.

Your Speaker, James, will explain the development of the lines, including aspects such as…

* Background history as to why such defences were considered needed
* The intended purpose of the forts
* Construction of the forts, how they were built
* The armaments of the forts and how they were manned
* The lives of the people who lived in the forts
* Why the forts become obsolete
* The uses of the forts over the years up to decommissioning and beyond

James will conclude by talking about the forts today, and what has become of them.

Please arrive 10 minutes before the start to get comfortably seated.
