Talk / Audio
Jervis Gallery, St Vincents, Mill Lane, Gosport, PO12 4QA
This illustrated talk, by Martin Marks OBE, uncovers some interesting incidents whilst describing a brief history of Forton Lake and its boatyards going back to 1795. There is even evidence that one of the Forton Lake boatyards has been on the site since the mid-15th century and that HMS Bounty’s long boat may have been built there prior to the famous mutiny!
A small area of the lake is within the grounds of St Vincent College within which is the Jervis Gallery, making this an ideal location for this event.
The presentation lasts approx 1 hr 15 mins. Seating is not allocated so you are welcome to arrive early to choose your seats and buy refreshments prior to start.
