Guided Walk
St. Marys Church Parish Centre, Green Road, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 2ET
A gentle guided amble around the village of Alverstoke, looking at various buildings and finding out about some of the characters who lived there over the past 200 years.
Up to the early 19th Century, the parish of Alverstoke was mainly agricultural but by the late19th century Alverstoke became built up and the fields separating it from Gosport disappeared. But the Village retains its charm and is a popular place to live, as it is in a prime position close to Stokes Bay and nestled amidst residential and military buildings of historical significance.
Your guide, Joy Hammond, will relay stories of some bygone places and peoples of Alverstoke during this tour.
