Discover the beauty and history of Ann’s Hill Cemetery, and explore The Hermitage Wildlife Garden on this circular guided walk.
Starting from Privett Park, your enthusiastic Guide will lead you through Anns Hill Cemetery, where you will pass by graves from those lost in WW1 and WW2, and she’ll point to the resting place of Dickie Dawson, a famous comedian, and husband to Diana Dors.
The Hermitage Wildlife Garden is something of a hidden gem that not that many people know the location of. It’s a special spot, full of history, flora and fauna. You’ll hear about who created the Garden, and the contribution the late Pat Edwards made to it. You’ll also learn what an ‘Apple Day’ was, and be able to see some special features such as the ‘doves of peace’, the ‘teepee’, the ‘fox’ sculptures, and the old monastery.

There is plently of parking, including accessible, just inside the two entrances to Park from Privett Road. Some areas are a little uneven so not fully suitable for wheelchairs. Some rest points along the way. Please bring a fold-up stool/chair if you feel needed.
Additional Information
Please arrive 10 minutes before the start time to meet your Guide. This is 90 minute walk, some on pavement but much on slightly uneven grass surface. Please wear suitable shoes for the terrain. No refreshments on route so please bring your own drink. We advise insect repellent, as some areas near water.
