Explore secrets of the deep and diving techniques through time, within a Victorian Gun Battery. Discover how sport, military and commercial divers have been going underwater, for the last 100 years. Experienced Diver-Guides will be on hand to make your visit a special event. Learn why Gosport is central to the history of diving. Also, view The Deane Helmet which is the world’s first successful diving helmet and dates from the early 1820s. The Historic Diving Society are extremely proud to have it in their museum in Gosport, on loan from The Science Museum, as this is the first time it has ever been on display.
