Enjoy this online presentation about the life and achievements of Gosport-born Bob Anderson, Olympic fencer and legendary Hollywood sword-fight trainer and choreographer…
Bob Anderson was born in Gosport 100 years ago this September.
This presentation will explore Bob’s career in the Royal Marines and also why his name is so important to fencers, especially those who competed in the Olympics from 1956 to 1976; and also in the world of stunt performance and sword-fighting for movies and television programmes.
We’ll look at the impact Bob had on the sport of fencing and how his name is still revered by the fencers of today. And we’ll highlight some of his most notable movie and TV connections from over 50 years.
In documentary clips, Bob himself will speak about the skill of choreography in sword-fighting. And you’ll hear from his daughter about what it was like to grow up with a famous stunt-double father.
Quote from Bob “I never took up the sword. The sword took me up.”
Duration approx 60 minutes.
