How did Gosport smell 50, 100, or 150 years ago? Why are smells, perfumes, odours, and fragrances so evocative?
In this light-hearted session, Peter Cardy invites you to remember once-familiar smells like Jeyes Fluid, Lifebuoy Soap, town gas, cough mixture, and antiseptics. Rain on a dry street? Your first girlfriend’s perfume, or your boyfriend’s aftershave? School dinners, sherbet lemons, aniseed balls? Meanwhile, what was going on down below if you got the drains up? If you remember Brobat, Bronco, school dinners, horses or dogs in the street, this session is for you.
Bring your memories of historic smells, and if you have examples or images to share, bring them with you to this feast of olfactory nose-talgia.
