The Scrap Happy Quilters not only get crafty with scraps but they also get very creative depicting local scenes and heritage themes as part of their annual challenge.
For Heritage Open Days this they proudly bring you their exhibition of beautifully crafted new works entitled ‘Elements’. 32 quilts depicturing nature’s ‘Earth, Wind, Fire and Water’ can be admired. And, to complement the theme, they’ll be another chance to see some of their quilts from last years challenge entitled ‘Nature’.
The Scrap Happy Quilters are celebrating their 21st anniversary this year and have gained many members of all ages and different walks of life over that time. They now run a ‘Young Quilters’ club and one very young quilter is putting her elders to shame! Matilda Tate, from Gosport, entered The Quilters Guild national competition and won first prize in the under 10 yr age group. She was also chosen as ‘Best in Show’ with top marks in every category for her fantastic work, in the shape of a tea service, entitled ‘Moor to Sea in Time for Tea’. Well done, Matilda!
Regardless of age or skill level, the quilters all enjoy making items for their friends, family or charitable causes. And they also make many friends along the way…
