Guided Walk

Settle in with an introductory talk followed by a guided walk of graves and memorials telling Gosport’s Naval History from 1859, the time of sail, to modern day. Find out about the link with Turkey and how Gosport became known as ‘Turk Town’; also submarines and links with the Russian Revolution.The Chapel and major memorials have been awarded Listed Buildings Status.

This beautiful 17 acre site, lying alongside water, is a designated SSI (Site of Scientific Interest). You will find award-winning trees, wildlife, fungi, hedgerows and two types of orchid. autumn Lady Tresses will be in full bloom during September. Pick up a self-led trail sheet to help you explore the natural aspects of this historic area.

Lots to see, touch and hear, plus time for peaceful reflection. If you have an interest in our naval history and the part Gosport’s seamen and submariners played then this event could be for you!

Natural environment, ground uneven with gravel pathways. Sensible footwear is essential. Accompanied children of all ages are very welcome.


Trail leaflets available. Hampshire County Council has designated Haslar Royal Naval Cemetery (Clayhall Road) an SSI (Site of Scientific Interest) because of the botanical diversity found on site.
