The Hovercraft Museum collection is unique, irreplaceable and inspiring, including five craft listed on The National Historic Ships register. It’s a great visit for fact-loving enthusiasts and also families who just wanna have fun…
Situated on a Transport Heritage Site, the museum has over 50 Hovercraft on display including military, commercial, multi-purpose, rescue, survey, exploration, racing, fun and recreational. In size, they range from the smallest to the largest commercial car carrying hovercraft in the world.
Run and supported entirely by volunteers, the purpose of the museum centres around enjoyment, education and inspiration by sight, sound, touch and understanding. There are fun activities for all ages, lots to see and do! Also, free guided tours. Finally, you can browse in the lovely gift shop and refresh yourself at the coffee shop.

ACCESS
Most of the site is flat and accessible for wheelchair and pushchairs, although some exhibits are not. The toilets are on the ground floor.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
During Heritage Open Day, the museum will also be partnering up with Hovertravel, who will be running pleasure flights from the slipway opposite the museum (ride charges do apply). So you can buy a ticket to ride if you wish, or simply watch a hovercraft in action from the slipway!

The museum is situated on Marine Parade West which offers free parking along the seafront and there is usually plenty of parking available for cars and coaches. Solent Ranger X5 bus route that runs between Gosport and Southampton via the Richmond Road bus stop (2 minutes walk to the museum).
