The Hovercraft Museum, Daedalus Site Seafront Gate, Marine Parade West, Lee-on-the-Solent, Hampshire, PO13 9NS
Visit the world’s only Hovercraft Museum!
2019 celebrates both the 60th Anniversary of the hovercraft and the 50th Anniversary of the giant SRN4 ‘The Princess Anne’.
‘The Princess Anne’ holds two Guinness world records, one for being the largest commercial hovercraft ever built and one for setting the cross-channel fastest crossing time of 22minutes in September 1995. She could carry up to 427 passengers and 55 cars at speeds in excess of 65kts.
The Museum is situated on a Transport Heritage Site with over 50 Hovercraft on display, 4 of which are listed on the National Ship’s register. There will be fun activities for all with lots of displays, free guided tours, a gift shop and coffee shop. This really is a fantastic day out for all ages.
The Museum is run and supported entirely by volunteers and, for this HODs event, they will also be working with partners Hovertravel to offer Hovercraft rides from the museum (charges will apply for Hovertravel rides).
