Fort Brockhurst, Gunners Way, Gosport, Hampshire, PO12 4DS
This vast Victorian fort was built in 1862 as part of the defences of Portsmouth.
The fort, including the Keep area and some casemates, will be open for visitors to see.
Volunteers will be on hand to share the history of the site.
Enjoy displays of uniform, artillery and infantry drill from 19th-century re-enactment groups, the Fort Cumberland Guard and also
The Queen’s (Royal West Surrey) Regiment, throughout the day.
The Big Noise Community Samba Band bring their traditional Brazilian samba-reggae style of music to entertain you. Their brightly coloured costumes, unique sound and enthusiasm create a highly infectious groove.

ACCESS
Ground surfaces can be uneven so please watch your footing. Due to stepped entrances to some rooms, these inside areas may not be accessible for wheelchair users. Dogs on leads are welcome on site but only assistance dogs are allowed in interior spaces. Car park in Gunners Way – £2 charge for non-English Heritage members. Other parking on-road in area. Toilets and refreshments are available for customers nearby in The Range.

The Fort closes at 4pm so please arrive early enough to complete your visit by then. Donations to the work of English Heritage are appreciated but totally voluntary.
